Mexico City - June 27, 2011
Green Card Fund, along with the Arizona Commerce Authority, hosted the "Invest in Arizona" Seminar in Mexico City, Mexico. The seminar was a resounding success, featuring many prominent speakers from both the U.S. and Mexico who spoke about investing in the United States (specifically in Arizona), the EB-5 program, and relevant immigration law.
The speakers in the event included: Fernando Jimenez - Global Business Development Manager for the Arizona Commerce Authority, Juan Batres - International Project Management Assistant for the City of Phoenix, Gonzalo De La Melena - President of the Arizona Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, Lizette Fonseca - Broker at DeRito Partners in Arizona, Juan Moreno - Legal Counsel at Bryan Cave, Matthew Martinez - Director of Fennemore Craig Attorneys, anf Kyle Walker - Managing Director of Green Card Fund, LLC.
Mr. Jimenez from the AZ Commerce Authority led things off and spoke to seminar attendees about the abundant business opportunities in the State of Arizona. Juan Batres followed up with more specific information about business opportunities in the City of Phoenix and Gonzalo De La Melena gave a rousing speech on the vibrant population of hispanic business owners and operators in Arizona. Lizette Fonseca spoke about the logistical concerns of opening a business in Arizona and showed potential investors how easy it can be to lease a business space in the state. Both Mr. Moreno and Mr. Martinez gave seminar attendees a thorough background on the immigration laws and policies that might affect them should they choose to immigrate to the United States and invest in Arizona. Their talks not only spoke to standard immigration models but also touched on the subject of the event - the EB-5 program.
When it was Mr. Walker's turn to speak, he was able to walk attendees through the EB-5 process, from its history and intent, to the "brass tacks" of the EB-5 process itself - timelines, requirements, eligibility, and project selection. After a lively Q&A session, the panel of speakers thanked everyone who attended the seminar and spent the next few hours mingling with attendees and answering questions related to their respective areas of expertise. All in all, it was a successful event and will likely be repeated again in the near future for persons who were unable to make it to our first "Invest in Arizona" event in Mexico City.
After the event, Mr. Walker and the Arizona group travelled to the wealthy suburb of Santa Fe to participate in The Investment Tour hosted by Raymundo Platas.
